OUR HISTORY

Dr. Albert B. Pletsch Dr. John Ehrhardt Dr. John M. Ehrhardt

1912 - 1953

1953 - 1999

 1984 - Present

In 1912, Albert B. Pletsch, DVM graduated from Terre Haute Veterinary College. He returned home to begin practice serving the people and animals of the area. Most farm work was done with horses, and until tractors replaced horses, much of Dr. Pletsch's time was spent treating them. By 1953, Dr. Pletsch was ready to slow down after 41 years by himself. That year John Ehrhardt, DVM graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, purchased the practice, and moved his young family to McNabb. Dr. Pletsch continued to work with Dad for many years until he passed away in 1967. Dad continued the practice, focusing on farm animals and pets until 1984, when I returned home after 18 months working in Alliance, Nebraska at The Animal Center. I had graduated from Illinois in 1983, thirty years behind Dad, and was ready to return home. I purchased the practice from Dad, and for the next 15 years we worked together along with my wife, Vicki at our new clinic. Dad passed away in March of 1999 and we continue the deep commitment  toward our clients and  their animals.  In 2001, we started an expansion project that was recently completed.  The size of the patient care area tripled with the surgery, dentistry, imaging, and dermatology services receiving top priority to improve patient care and comfort.

Our Mission

Our mission is to offer affordable primary pet care, primary pet dentistry, and food animal health programs to our clients and their animals.  We will focus on the prevention of diseases through effective immunization, and quality medications. We will promote animal wellness, ensure animal welfare, protect the safety of the food supply, promote the family farm, and preserve the rural way of life.
